John Newlin

Trustee, Unity College Board of Trustees

John is co-founder and executive director of Growing to Give at Scatter Good Farm in Brunswick, Maine, a non-profit that grows organic vegetables using climate-friendly methods and donates them to people facing food insecurity through local pantries. He worked as an educator in Maine for 30 years – as a high school teacher, K-12 curriculum coordinator, school change coach (mostly high schools), senior project director (at the Great Schools Partnership), and finally as the executive director of the Maine International Center for Digital Learning, a non-profit established by former Governor (now Senator) Angus King to promote the wise use of innovative technology in schools. Since 2013, the primary focus of John’s work has been the climate change issue. John received his Master’s in Science Teaching in Environmental Studies from Antioch University New England in 1983.
